Friday People is a new charity that helps young jobseekers break through the barriers to employment by
providing them with stimulating work, training and mentoring. Working with Friday People our interns develop
the necessary transferable skills and experience that are essential to prospective employers. We enable our
interns to gain these vital skills through various workshops and local community regeneration projects to
deliver practical support for local charities.
We are dedicated to helping 16 to 24 year olds learn skills that will give them a competitive edge in today's
tough job market. Alongside offering invaluable experience working for charities by developing and leading
real projects creating new resources and new income streams, we support our young jobseekers with tailor-
made training and mentoring.
Matt, one of the first jobseekers to join Friday People back when we launched in February 2011, says: “I
never thought I’d get a chance like this. I’ve learnt so much and now I lead my own projects where I’m the
one responsible for success. It’s up to me and my team to make this work – not just for ourselves but for
the charities where Friday People is working to raise money”. Matt has now gone on to secure full time
employment with the skills he has learned from the Friday People organisation. Our programme fully ensures
our young people get the most out of their time with us and sets them firmly on the road to securing full-time
employment.
In an economy where more than twenty percent of young people are unemployed, we see it as our
responsibility to help get them back into work. We know what it's like to be left out in the cold - that's why
we're determined to do everything we can to help our young people to rebuild a future for themselves and
grab the hottest jobs on the market
